The 1st edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been finished on 23 February with lot of promise & hope for a cricket crazy nation. This is the first ever franchise based T20 tournament for Pakistan which was hosted by UAE (Dubai & Sharjah). The tournament was started from 4 February & run for three weeks with five teams. PSL opened the participation of foreign players in Pakistan domestic tournament after a long time. At the end, it will be
considered as a land mark for Pakistan cricket & the cricket fans will certainly wait for next PSL.

Underdog to Champion: Islamabad was not counted as a hot favourite at the beginning of tournament. They even lost five out of eight their group matches. With the inclusion of former Australian wicket keeper – batsman Brad Haddin, the United were electrifying.
Tournament run with another big one: PSL run in such a time when 1st ever T20 tournament of retired superstars was also held in UAE. Player like Lara, Shewag, Muralitharan, Razzak played in that tournament, named MCL2020.
PCB production: Pakistan Cricket Board have not only organized their inaugural franchise based T20 tournament but also produced their 1st ever international type event.
Top of group fail to move Final: Peshawar Zalmi was the top position in group stage but they couldn’t go to Final. They were lost the Qualifier1 with a narrow margin in a thriller.
Imressive Local performance: 3 out of top 5 bowlers & batsmen are from Pakistan. It was a balance Local & overseas show.
Hat-trick by Welcome bowler: Mohammad Amir picked up the first PSL hat-trick playing for Karachi Kings against Lahore Qalandars.
Three consecutive Fifty: Tamim Iqbal of Peshawar Zalmi & Umar Akmal of Lahore Qalandars have scored 3 consecutive 50+ innings.
Astounding All-round performance: Ravi Bopara has performed record all round batting & bowling in a T20 innings. Playing for Karachi, he took 6 wickets & scored 71 runs against Lahore.
Two 5-for in below 10: Shahid Afridi (Peshawar) & Mohammad Sami (Islamabad) took 5 wickets in two matches given away just 7 & 8 runs respectively.
Cracking Opening Ceremony: Star Singer Sean Paul, Ali Zafar performed in the grand opening. Lots of fire work were also arranged to entertain the spectators. Gayle, Sammy joined the party with their trade mark dance.
Most Runs in Tournament: Umar Akmal (Lahore) 335 runs in 7 innings
Highest Run in an Innings: Sharjeel Khan (Islamabad) 117 runs- the only ton of inaugural PSL.
Most Wickets in Tournament: Andre Russell (Islamabad)16 wickets in 10 innings
Best Bowling Figure: Ravi Bopara (Karachi) 6/16
Impact on National side: Pakistan selectors have included Islamabad batsman Sharjeel Khan and pace bowler Mohammad Sami in place of injured Babar Azam & Rumman Raees for upcoming World Twenty20 though the squad was declared two weeks ago. Batsman Khalid Latif also comes to the side for Iftikhar Ahmed.
