It is quite astonishing that 3rd edition of Bangladesh Premier league will come to in action without two of their old Division. The administration of Bangladesh is divided into eight major regions called ‘Division’ which are further splited into several districts. Each division has some common features in their own. Team name of BPL Season 1 and 2 has been taken from each division. Season-1 has presented 6 teams while Season-2 has included the new division- Rangpur.
This time, a new division formed by the Government of Bangladesh named as Mymensingh. But it has been axed with two old divisions named Rajshahi & Khulna. The number of team stands on 6 including a possible future division named Comilla. Though a lot of national players are coming from those regions and Shakib Al hasan is one of them. Interestingly 3 of 6 icon players (6main players of 6 teams) are from Rajshahi & Khulna.
People have mixed expression regarding the absence of their own region. Sujan from Rajshahi is disappointed toBangladesh Cricket Board and the businessman. But he is excited to watch the latest version of cricket. Turjo, a student from Khulna planned to watch all the matches of Khulna on a Giant screen through projector. He added, “We planned about BPL a long time ago and it is beyond our magine that we have no franchise”.
Both Khulna and Rajshahi has international cricket venue named Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium and Shahid Kamruzzaman Stadium respectively. Though few people blame BCB but a large number of Cricket fan give credit to BCB for resuming the most glamorous event in Bangladesh after a controversy of corruption. At present a million dollar question who is gonna be supported by Khulna and Rajshahi! The expectator from that region are like to introduce them as ‘Tiger fan’.
