SLC has accepted to release their centerlly-contracted seven plyers to play in the BPL-3. Earlier the Sri Lanka Cricket board has declined to give no-objection certificates for 16 players in BPL. At that time ‘Livebpl’ mentioned in its report that the BPL organizing committee was confident for the participation of Lankan player. And now, Srilanka has shown that they always try to maintain a good relationship with Bangladesh Cricket Board.
There may be couple of reasons behind this. The Lankan domestic league is shifted at least one week due to bad weather and there is a strong desire of SLC for participation of foreign players in their own T20 league. The T20 tournament (Elite Championship) of SLC is likely to held in January 2016. The players may miss several matches of their Premier limited over tournament. But they got approval from their own clubs.
List of players to be released:
Tilakaratne Dilshan, Jeevan Mendis, Chamara Kapugedera: Chittagong Vikings
Thisara Perera, Sachithra Senanayake: Rangpur Riders
Ajantha Mendis: Sylhet Superstars
Seekkuge Prasanna: Barisal Bulls
The players shared their thought to the board that the BPL experience would give them a better stand for the upcoming Asia cup in February 2016. The next Asia cup will be held in Bangladesh as a T20 format. There is a strong possibility for all seven players to cement their position in the Asia cup squad.
Beside the seven centerlly-contracted players, Kumar Sangakkara (Dhaka Dynamites) and Dilshan Munaweera Sylhet Superstars) was confirmed for their participation. The franchise of BPL express their satisfiaction to SLC and mention it as a relief.
